Andy Transplant Foundation Creates Wishes from the Heart for Father’s Day -
Andy Transplant Foundation invites players with a Father’s Day Special
for Satellite World Series of Poker
Raleigh, NC 11 June 2008 - The Andy Transplant Foundation (AFT), established by Susan Thompson in memory of her brother Andy is sponsoring the World Series of Poker satellite event for the first time. Tied to the Las Vegas main event, this local event will be held on June 28th -29th. The winner of the buy-in no-limit hold´em championship goes to Las Vegas to play for 10 million dollars.
Andy who passed away on February 25, 2003 leaving behind a grieving wife and four young children, a sister and parents who loved him deeply. As a Father’s Day gift the committee has decided to open up a $100 Buy-In Tournament in additional to the $300 Buy-In Tournament. The $100 Buy-in gives the player automatic play in round 1 from which 5 finalists will move on to Round 2. The $300 Buy-In players begin in Round 2. Eight players from this round will move to the final table. All eight winners will receive prizes.
“We would like to see a FULL HOUSE to help save lives,” says Susan Thompson, President and Founder. “Andy’s Transplant Foundation’s mission is to save lives by creating funding to support transplant research and to increase awareness of the need for individual organ transplant donations.”
The foundation is looking for more businesses to sponsor tables and join others in this worthy cause. Local businesses are expected to jump at this opportunity to receive recognition for contributions to the community. The event is open to anyone over 21 years of age. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Andy Transplant Foundation and donations on the part of the foundation will be made to North Carolina organ research institutions.
